Our team of experienced instructors have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, ensuring that our students receive the best possible training. Whether you are looking to obtain your private pilot license, or you are a seasoned professional looking to enhance your skills, we have a program that is tailored to meet your needs.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We are always happy to help!
If you're brand new to the world of aviation, we recommend you schedule a discovery flight with us. You'll have about an hour to meet with an instructor, ask questions, tour the school, and see the airplanes. Then you'll have about a half hour flight to experience the training environment for yourself.
After your flight, you can discuss with your instructor the best way to pursue your aviation goals.

At Sebring Flight Academy, we pride ourselves on being one of the premier sport pilot training centers in the country. With years of experience and the most advanced aircraft at our disposal, we provide a comprehensive training program at an affordable price.
The Sport Pilot Certificate was introduced by the FAA in 2004 as a means to get more people into aviation. Compared to a Private Pilot Certificate, it offers lower minimums to obtain while still offering enough privileges for most people who just want to fly for fun. With a Sport Pilot Certificate, you can fly a light sport aircraft carrying up to one passenger during the day under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). No medical certificate is required, just a drivers license.
Here at Sebring Flight Academy, we have a well-developed 27-lesson syllabus designed to take you from zero to checkride in three basic phases.
Phase 1: Basic aircraft operation, and takeoffs and landings. This will conclude with your first solo.
Phase 2: Navigation and flight planning. This will conclude with your solo cross-country flights.
Phase 3: Checkride prep. Maneuvers, oral exam preparation, and anything else you need to get ready for the checkride.
Our syllabus includes flight training, ground instruction, and solo flights, and is designed to be flexible to accommodate the unique needs of each individual student.
Upon completion of our training program, you need to take a written exam, and then a checkride with an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. The checkride will consist of an oral exam and a practical test.
To be eligible for a Sport Pilot Certificate, you must:

Read what student Julian Johnson has to say about his “Landing Doctor” training.
The Landing Doctor program and its focus on Ground Proximity Awareness are transformative. During my journey to my PPL, I have worked with a dozen CFI’s who almost without exception answered “it’ll just click” when asked about their approach to teaching landings. While practicing something countless times will inevitably lead to some degree of proficiency, it doesn’t necessarily lead to consistency in quality. By contrast, the Landing Doctor program directly addresses the greatest landing challenge facing new pilots, namely, gauging how far above the runway the aircraft is after crossing the threshold. The result is that within a few sessions of Ground Proximity Awareness training, the quality of my landings was immensely improved and, as importantly, consistent. If “butter” landings are your goal, the Landing Doctor program will get you there.

The Private Pilot Certificate is generally the first step for an aspiring recreational or commercial pilot. It offers a broader set of privileges than the Sport Pilot Certificate, including a broader range of aircraft types, night flying privileges, and the ability to add on an instrument rating.
As with all our training, we follow a structured syllabus designed to take you from zero to check ride as efficiently as possible. The Private Pilot syllabus will follow a similar structure to the Sport Pilot Syllabus but will include more lessons to meet the higher Private Pilot minimums. This includes night flying, basic instrument flying, and towered airport operations.
To be eligible for a Private Pilot Certificate, you must:
Estimated time / cost to complete: 60 hours / $12,500
Looking to expand your capabilities as a private pilot? Consider adding your instrument rating! Having an instrument rating offers more opportunities to fly, and a greater safety margin while you do.
At Sebring Flight Academy, we utilize modern aircraft equipped with the latest Garmin "glass cockpit" avionics to offer a modern approach to flight training. Additionally, you can log up to 20 hours of training in our state-of-the-art Redbird AATD flight simulator, meaning we can offer this training at a very affordable price.
Our instrument rating course will train you in all you need to know to safely operate an aircraft in the clouds under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). You'll learn basic attitude instrument flying, navigation, IFR communications, and operation of aircraft systems. You'll also learn about weather, flight planning, and the Federal Aviation Regulations applicable to IFR flight.
The instrument rating course generally takes about 40 hours to complete, after which you will need to take the FAA written test and a checkride with an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner.
Estimated time / cost to complete: 40 hours / $7,500
The goal of realistic simulation is to fool the mind into forgetting what it knows to be true in favor of what the senses are telling it. In the case of flight simulation, this means convincing the mind that it’s not sitting in a metal box, planted firmly on the ground, but that it’s cruising at 7000 feet. Getting the mind to admit that it’s wrong is not a simple proposition, and can’t be done with a single sensory input alone. The eyes and ears must be working in concert for the mind to truly believe. The Redbird FMX motion platform truly takes it to a new level. It manipulates the sense of balance, further selling the mind on the fact that it’s airborne, and not on terra firma as it so fervently believed before it was introduced to the FMX simulator.
