COMMERCIAL PILOT TRAINING

YOUR DREAM CAREER IN AVIATION STARTS HERE

Do you dream of making flying your career? With demand for pilots at an all-time high, there has never been a better time to start. At Sebring Flight Academy, our commercial pilot training will put you on the path to your airline or corporate job for a fraction of the price of an aviation college.

How it works 1-2-3

group of flight instructors

Step One

  1. Earn your Sport Pilot or Private Pilot certificate with us. We make this process easy and affordable. Our sport pilot training program provides you a pathway to earn revenue at 150 TT.

Step Two

2. Build your time! We offer time building aircraft for $80 per hour wet. Our unique Commercial Pilot training program allows you to obtain a CFI-S at 150 hours TT, 100 hours PIC . No Instrument rating or Commercial Pilot certificate required!

Learning to be a flight instructor

Step Three

3.  Begin working for us as a flight instructor and build time towards your Instrument rating, Commercial Pilot certificate, and Airline Transport Pilot certificate.

We estimate that you can go from zero to Commercial Pilot for less than $40,000. How can we get you there for so little money? By taking advantage of the often-overlooked Sport Pilot Instructor certificate! This certificate allows you to start earning money as a flight instructor after just 150 hours. You don't even need an Instrument rating or a Commercial Pilot certificate! Compare this to the normal career path for pilots, which requires you to have over 250 hours before you can start flying for compensation or hire.

With a Sport Pilot Instructor certificate, as outlined in FAR 61 Subpart K, you can provide flight instruction in a light sport aircraft for sport pilot students, sport pilots seeking a flight review, and sport pilot instructors. Since all our aircraft are light sport aircraft, and since we specialize in sport pilot training, we can offer a unique opportunity to start your aviation career over 100 hours earlier than anyone else!

The Bristell Difference

You'll be flying an airplane like this...

Glass panel avionics

...so why train on one that looks like this?

Dual display Garmin G3X

That's why our airplanes look like this.

All our aircraft use modern glass-panel avionics from Garmin, including an autopilot and flight director. Corporate aviation companies value experience with such systems, so training in our aircraft will make you stand out from the crowd when you apply to your dream job. That's the Bristell difference.

Estimated cost

You can become a Light Sport CFI with 150 hours Total Time. No Instrument or Commercial required.

  1. Students begin with a one week, 10-hour flight training package. After 10 hours of instruction, we will let you know if you have what it takes to be an airline pilot or a Sport Pilot Instructor. This will cost about $1850. Housing available for only $30 per night.
  2. Students will go on to complete their Private Pilot certificate. This will take about another 50 hours and can be done at your own pace. We've had students complete their private pilot's certificate in less than two months. The total cost to finish your private pilots certificate is about $13,000. This includes the $1850 for the first 10 hours. We offer some financing under the following terms:

a.  You need a FICA score of 700 or more.  If you place $5000 on your account we will ad another $5000 as a loan. The interest rate is 6% interest only for 5 years.  The payment is $25 per month for 60 months and a final payment of $5000. If you miss 2 payments the interest rate goes to 12% APR. If you miss 6 payments, the interest rate goes to 18% APR.

Once you obtain 100 hours (and are still a student pilot so a LSA CFI can continue to instruct you) you will qualify for a second $5000 loan under the same terms.

  1. If students wish, they can elect to complete their Instrument rating before beginning their Sport Pilot Instructor training. The Instrument rating can be completed in about 40 hours and will cost approximately $8000.
  2. After completion of their Private Pilot certificate, students will build time and begin training for their Sport Pilot Instructor certificate. Students need to have 150 hours total time including 100 hours as Pilot-in-Command by the time they take the Sport Pilot Instructor check ride. We estimate the training for your Sport Pilot Instructor certificate can be completed for about $10,000
  3. In less than a year from starting the program, you can earn your Light Sport Flight Instructor certificate and start getting paid for most of the hours you will need to obtain a corporate or airline job.
  4. Once you have built the required time, you can finish your Commercial Pilot certificate. We estimate the cost for this to be about $6000.

*Note that these numbers are rough estimates, and your individual performance in the program will affect how long it will take to complete, and thus will affect the cost to complete the program.
